POWER ELECTRONICS AND MEASUREMENTS

L&R Engineering has focused on power electronics for the continuous operation of measurement systems. This includes DC/DC power supplies, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) with mains input and solar panel input, and support for CPU modules and data loggers. Both proprietary models and commercial modules are offered, as well as related components.
UPS+PWRSv1
The UPS+PWRSv1 from L&R Ing. is a power supply, charger, and PV regulator board in a DIN-rail compatible format (DIN R416 model enclosure), with inputs for:
- a) Mains: 220 VAC — through an integrated switching module FSK-55-15U (100–240 VAC 50/60 Hz, 0.15 A max, isolated output 15 Vdc, 0.35 A max, 3 kV insulation). Includes PTC fuse, varistor, and integrated LC line filter (Schaffner FN406 type).
- b) Photovoltaic (PV) panel up to 20 W, Voc = 21 V, Icc = 1.1 A typical.
- c) External DC source up to 17 V.
It features a linear regulator (LM317T w/heatsink) configured as a charger circuit for 12 V/7 Ah gel-type lead-acid batteries, an LVD (Low-Voltage-Disconnect) circuit based on ICL7665, and a switchable Vo voltage output. Its function is to provide a DC voltage slightly lower than that of a battery (typically 10 to 11.5 V @ 0.25 A), with up to triple redundancy, to supply a low-power CPU or control unit. Connection is via plug-in screw terminal blocks/modules. Units produced and in operation since 2016, in configurations that depend on the customer’s needs.
DC_UPS(INTI)
The DC_UPS(INTI) from L&R Ing. is a power supply module, charger, PV regulator, and 2×VRLA batteries in a metal cabinet, with 4 channels of 24 Vdc outputs and two 14.4 Vdc channels, to supply up to 4 PWRC2 units and associated instrumentation.
FteDIN416

L&R Ing.’s DC/DC switching battery power supply modules provide adjustable, regulated +Vo (up to 1 A or 3 A depending on the version) power to CPU equipment from 12, 24 or 48 Vdc battery banks, with a common 0 V output. They feature input overvoltage protection, a resettable PTC fuse, output short-circuit protection (foldback), and voltage sensing circuitry in addition to external on/off logic control (−EN). Typical efficiency 75% — 52 kHz switching technology (±10%) in buck architecture, based on LM2575/2576 lines (TI, OnSemi, Micrel) with integrated protections. R416 external format is adaptable to standard DIN rail installations, B2AZ type screw terminal blocks.
